New Friends in Awkward places
Chapter 5

  the two of them walk in silence for about 3 hours as they search for this Goblin Kingdom. suddenly Jaimie's voice broke the silence saying, "Dee i know i haven't known you for long, but you do not seem like the quiet type. what's on your mind?"
  "why don't you just read it Psyche?" Dee mumbled.
  "I don't like to interfere with peoples' minds. i try to keep it to a minimum, and let them tell me what's bugging them, if they want me to know," Jaimie remarked  back.
  Dee huffed a bit but then sighed before speaking up, "I-I'm just worried. I mean what if we don't get our Queen back. What if we fail?.. What if we're too late." Once Dee's voice trailed out with the wind it was quite once more. Jaimie bowed his head slightly taking off his sunglasses to rub his eyes, he had the exact same fear as her.
  As Jaimie sighed putting on his sunglasses again, he tripped suddenly and with a grunt he was caught by Dee.
  "heh i guess foraging through the woods isn't really your forte huh?" Dee joked putting Jaimie back down.
  "what did i trip on?" Jaimie asked ignoring his partner's comment.
  "huh? oh its no big deal just this little tree branch." Dee bent down and picked up this green vine looking branch from the forest floor. yet as she tugged and unearthed the rest of the branch, she realized it wasn't simply a lonely branch that fell off one of the tree's near by, but a root stem of a large man eating plant gorken. In awe they both look at the plant as it sprung to life. it looked like an over grown vinous fly trap but wish eyes and actual shark like teeth. it let out a loud roar as it woke to see a strange creature tugging on one of its roots. and before Dee knew it she was thrusted into the air as the furious gorken wrapped his vine-like arms around her, constricting her tightly. Dee yelped in pain as she felt a bone in her arm snap as the huge beast tighten his grip. "A LITTLE HELP WOULD BE NICE! AHHHH" she yelled to her motionless partner.
  With a sigh Jaimie took off his sunglasses once more getting ready to fight this man eating plant. using his hand to channel his magic Jaimie muttered, " ighting-lay o-fay ousand-tay orms-say!" and with that a stray gray cloud came out of the heavens and stuck the beast with lightning, unfortunately Jaimie doesn't have a legitimate magic channeller, and Jamie is not a master of the arts so using his hands isn't the best approach to show off his magical skills. In other words Dee got BBQed as well.  the Gorken roared in agony releasing the well done werewolf, letting her face plant tight into the forest floor.
  "I'm sorry I just don't have a- I-I'm sorry," Jaimie apologized as Dee groaned steam coming from her chard skin. "I-I can help don't worry ill sooth the burning!" Jaimie said as Dee slow rises her skin  slowly healing itself. however Jaimie got ready and pointed his hands toward her mumbling, " ittle-tay ave-way!"  and jumped out of the way. mean while Dee was cracking some of her broken bones into place so they will heal right. As she finished off her neck, she heard a notice in the distance. Rubbing her neck she looked up and her jaw just dropped right then and there. In front of her was a huge tittle wave of water coming her way at great speed.
with eye wide she mumbled in astonishment," Oh mother fu-" before she could even finish her cuss word the sword, the large wave swept her away, ironically making her slam into a tree about 10 ft. away. after the water passed through Jaimie came out from the bushes and went to Dee, who was just laying there leaning up against the tree utterly drenched.
  "well, heheh, at least the burnt skin is gone..." his voice trailed off as he tried to look at the "bright side" of his uncontrolled magic. Dee glared up at him and spat out some water before struggling to her feet again.  suddenly they both heard the Gorken roared once more, but it wasn't out of agony but happiness. the water that Jaimie casted to help Dee got to the plant which helped him with his burns as well, making it grow even larger. Mind boggled Dee looked at the now even bigger plant gorken. she slowly turned to Jaimie glaring at him.
  "I-I can- um I know I can-" he stuttered before Dee interrupted him.
  "You.. STOP HELPING!" she growled.
  "well fine! humph!" he grunted back and with on swift movement, he turned away from her and sat on a near by boulder. Dee let out a sigh rubbing her temples, "oh great now hes mad at me...ugh"
  "Jaimie I-AHHHHHH," She yelled forgetting about the plant behind her he wraped his vine around her leg and slid her back to where he sat. The Gorken roared again holding the young werewolf up side down.
  "oh.. PERFECT!" she grunted struggling trying to get out of his grasp. the plant roared again planing to have a little snack before going back to sleep. Dee yelled as the gorken threw her up opening his wide mouth. In a sper of the moment she grabbed onto a large branch from the oak tree above the Gorken's nest. "YES!" she thought as she hung onto the branch for dear life just out of the Gorken's reach. Crack. Dee looks around. Crack. she heard it again. soon she discovered where that was coming from. looking up she saw in horror the branch couldn't hold her weight. "NO!" she yelled as the branch snapped again starting her descent back down to the hungry plant gorken's large mouth.
  Thinking fast she used threw the branch down kicking it making it stop in the monster's growls not letting him close his mouth. Oddly she landed on the branch balancing on it. She heard it crack when she touched down on to the large stick.
  "JAIMIE HELP!" she yelped trying desperately  not to let the branch break anymore. she couldn't jump off, the beast could easily  snack her then. she was utterly stuck. she needed help from her partner, even if she would get messed up in the processes.
  "You told me not to help so humph," Jamie huffed, his back still to her arms crossed.
  "OK OK I'M SORRY! PLEASE HELP!" Dee yelled balancing as best as she can on the breaking stick.
  "..say I'm amazing.. " he remarked turning to look over his shoulder.
  "WHAT?!"
  "You heard me, say I'm amazing and then I will help," he repeated.
  "WHAT NO!" the branch cracked more as the plant monster tires to bite down, "GAH! OK OK YOUR AMAZING!"
  "and that I'm good at magic."
  "oh you've GOT to be kidding me!"
  "no say no help"
  "ALRIGHT YOUR GOOD AT MAGIC NOW PLEASE HELP!!!" she yelped as the branch broke. The plant monster chomped his mouth shut eating the wolf along with the branch.
  At that moment Jaimie hopped up, and facing the plant he muttered an incantation. Right when he was done with the last syllable the plant gorken started to rumble.
  "uh oh," Jaimie said and leaped behind a large bolder when the monster blew up sending the young wolf flying out and landing face first right into the dirt right next to the boulder Jaimie hid behind.
  "ugh.." Dee groaned, drained, "whats all over me?" she got up looking over herself.
  "um.. it appears to be plant guts.." Jaimie giggled.
  "Ew.." she said disgusted shaking the green goop off of her face and arms.
  "here," Jaimie chuckled rummaging through his bag.
  "huh?" Dee asked standing up. he handed her a towel before closing up his backpack standing as well. "oh..thanks.."
  "don't mention it," Jaimie said putting his sunglasses back on, as they started to walk again.
  " Why do you always wear those things? I mean it's not even sunny here. the trees block it." Dee snapped bitterly.
  "Wouldn't you hide your eyes if they glowed purple all the time?" Jamie snapped back climbing over a log. Dee jumped over it effortlessly. "Why do you care?" Jaimie scoffed.
  "Just wondering," She shrugged.
  As they walked Dee finished up whipping off the plant goop as much as she could she remarked as doing so, "Gah, lets hope from here on out we don't have to run into more things in this stupid forest."
  There was a short pause until Jaimie asked, "Define what you mean by things..."
  "You know strange characters.." Before she could finish Jaimie interrupted by her stoping them both and pointed up into a tree in front of them, "Uh, i think you spoke a bit to soon." With a confused look Dee glanced up into the tree to see a teen-looking girl, in nothing but animal skins crouched on a branch muttering in some weird tongue. She tended to flail her arms in exploding and and crazy manner as she talked, or squeaked in such a fast  pace neither Dee nor Jaimie could even attempt to comprehend what is coming out of her mouth.
  "Is she..TALKING to a squirrel?!" Dee awed desperately trying to understand if she was even speaking English or not. Jaimie just nodded dumbfounded. "Uh.. what is she thinking?" she looked at him as he starred astonished at this mystery wild girl.
"...N-nothing.." he looks at her, " absolutely NOTHING."
Dee rolled her eyes, "How can someone thing on NOTHING?! are you sure you can even read minds Psyche?"
"Well of course, you are thinking of hunting and eating that poor helpless deer right over to your left." He said simply motioning to the deer in the clearing munching on some fresh grass.
  "humph," she crossed her arms looking away from him," well..lucky guess.."
  "No its fact I able to read minds and that girl that is STILL talking or squeaking to that squirrel up there is not thinking of a thing!" he stated with his tongue extended from his mouth.
  Dee growled, clenching her fists her arms still crossed, "I'm sure you did not just stick your tongue out at me!"
  "And if i did?" he than stuck his tongue out at the wolf girl again.
  "Oh that is the last straw Psyche! you are so dead!" she snarled crouching reading to pounce on him.
  Jaimie stepped back getting into his fighting stance as well, "I would love to see you try Wolf!"
Before either of them attacked they both heard some one, the wild girl, jumped down from the tree off to the side of the two arguing teens. In silence they both look at this mystery girl.
"OK...I need to go south," She shifted her eyes side to side as if trying to figure out which way was south.
the two just paused, looking at her astonished. Dee finally blurted out, "ARE YOU SERIOUS?! you were TALKING to that squirrel for five minutes, flailing your arms and everything. And all you got out of it was you needed to go SOUTH?!"
  "OH no!  Freddy just needed to vent, you see his daughter Jessie is going out with a badger and Freddy is all, "how could she do this to me," and i was just saying i could-wait..." She paused, looking at the two confused faces and suddenly jumped back pointing, her hand shaking, "WHO THE HELL ARE YOU GUYS?!"
  "Oh I Am Lord Jaimie from the Tragik Kingdom and this.. is my.. slow smelly companion..Dee," Jaimie introduced them both.
  Dee crossed her arms and mumbled, " Go die in a ditch Jaimie..."
    "Do you two need some alone time" the strange girl asked, extremely confused about what she was witnessing.
    "NO!" the two shouted in unison, "what exactly is south?" Jaimie asked.
    "The animals have told me of a dark castle that has appeared on the southern outskirts of this beautiful forest and I intend to tell the owner of said castle that he needs to move" Jaimie and Dee looked at the girl, both thinking the same thing This girl is wacko
     "You're right Dee now we do know where the castle is" Jaimie announces to the un said statement that Dee had made, "well miss, what was your name again."
     " I am Kira, warrior of the forest and protector of the animals"
    "Yes well Kira, Dee and I ascend from the kingdom of Tragik, where our queen was abducted and taken to the dark castle to the south..."
    "Good, we shall travel together." and with that Kira marched deeper into the forest
     "Isn't that east?" Dee asked.
     "Er...I knew that. This way!"
     "That's west..." Jaimie corrected.
     "Well if you guys are so smart than you lead" Kira proclaimed.
     With a heavy sigh and eyes rolled, the Psyche and the Wolf,along with their new companion set out toward the Dark Castle.
